Serious question, is a concrete patio really better than pavers?
I was reading the National Concrete Masonry Association site and they claim concrete slabs last 30+ years while pavers need resetting every 10-15. But my neighbor's paver patio in Phoenix has been solid for 22 years with just some sand top ups. So which side are you on? Anyone have real numbers on cost or lifespan from their own yard?

You ever see one of those jobs that looks perfect for years and wonder if the "experts" are wrong? I used to think concrete was the only way to go for a solid patio, but watching my buddy's pavers hold up in Texas heat changed my mind. Pavers might need a little maintenance, but they dont crack like my concrete slab did after one bad freeze.

Totally get what you mean! Concrete has this reputation for being bulletproof but one good freeze and it's like a jigsaw puzzle. I kind of love that pavers let you cheat a bit you just replace the broken ones instead of jackhammering the whole thing. Plus they don't look like a boring gray slab unless you want them to. Guess the "experts" forgot to mention that concrete doesn't like weather lol.
