That one Saturday the wind turned my gazebo into a kite
We had our 8x10 pop-up gazebo staked down with 6 anchors, but a gust came through around 2 PM last month and lifted one corner clean off. It bent two of the frame poles before we got it down. I learned that those cheap plastic stakes are basically useless on grass, even with the weight bags. Swapped to 12 inch metal screw anchors after that and put sandbags on each leg, no issues since. Anybody else had a canopy flip on them during an otherwise calm afternoon?

Ngl, that exact thing happened to me a few years back with a 10x10. Thought I had it secured too, but those little stakes just popped right out of the ground like they were nothing. The frame bent on two corners and one of the crossbars snapped clean. Bent it back with a pipe but it never sat right again. Yeah, the screw anchors are the way to go, but you gotta twist them in deep, not just hammer them. I also started crisscrossing the sandbags over the leg plates instead of just setting em on top, seems to hold way better. Wind is sneaky like that, itll find any weak spot you got.
