The old guy at the garden center in Boise talked me out of a $60 fountain and into a $7 birdbath
I was about to buy this little ceramic fountain for my patio last Saturday because I wanted the sound of water out there. The guy working the counter asked what I was really after, and I said the noise helps me relax after work. He pointed at a plain concrete birdbath for $7 and said the birds splashing around would give me almost the same sound for a tenth of the price. Three days in and he was right, plus I've already seen a robin and two finches using it, which the fountain never would have given me. Has anyone else swapped a pricey water feature for something simple like this?
