TIL a $9 bag of paver sand fixed the puddling on my patio, not the 40 pound bags
Spent two weekends last month in Nashville trying to level out a low spot near my grill with big bags of leveling sand, and it just kept washing out after every rain. Turns out that stuff is too coarse and never locks together, but a thin layer of fine paver sand swept into the joints actually does the job. Has anyone else had luck with a different fix, or is fine sand just the standard move for this?
I had a similar thing happen with a 50 pound bag of play sand from the hardware store on Carroll Road. Dumped it in a low spot by my back steps and it looked great for about three days, then the next storm pushed it all into the flower bed. What finally worked for me was mixing that fine sand with a little topsoil and packing it down with a hand tamper, since the sand alone just floats away when water hits it.
