Unpopular opinion: I actually hate the 'before and after' obsession on here

Everyone posts these dramatic 6 month makeovers where they ripped out all their grass and put in stamped concrete. But my yard looks way better 2 years after I just let the clover take over and stopped fighting nature. My neighbor spent $8,000 on a paver patio and now he's out there every weekend scrubbing moss off it. Meanwhile I spent $40 on a bag of clover seed and my yard stays green all summer without ever watering. Has anyone else just let their yard do its thing and ended up happier?

Moss doesn't grow on pavers unless you live in a damp climate and they don't get any sun. Your neighbor probably just has them in a shady spot.

Did you see that article about using a vinegar solution on moss? I tried it once on my own walkway and it worked better than I expected. @oscarc53 hit the nail on the head about it being a constant battle though. I found that even after killing the moss with vinegar, I had to scrub the pavers pretty hard to get the dead stuff out of the cracks.

Man, that's tough. I feel for your neighbor. I had a shady corner in my backyard once and a similar thing happened - it was just always damp and nothing would dry out properly, so moss was a constant battle. Sometimes you can do everything right with cleaning and sealing but if the conditions aren't there, nature just does its thing. Hope they can find a way to get some more light in that spot eventually.
