Visited a friend's place in Tempe and their gravel patio was a game changer

Honestly, I always thought gravel would be too messy, but they used a specific 3/8 inch crushed granite with a solid border. It drained perfectly after a storm and looked way nicer than I expected. Has anyone else used gravel and found a good way to keep it from tracking inside?

Used to think the same about gravel being a total mess. Then I saw a setup with a deep border and that coarser granite, and it really does stay put. I put down a heavy duty weed fabric underneath mine, which also helps a ton with keeping things clean.

Yeah, that border depth is key. I read a landscaping guide that said you need at least a 4-inch edge to really lock the gravel in, otherwise it just spills over the side after a while. The fabric underneath is non-negotiable too, stops the dirt from mixing up and weeds from poking through. Makes a huge difference in keeping it looking clean.

Exactly. It's like a lot of things, the right prep work upfront saves you a ton of hassle later. @the_elliot is right about the heavy fabric too, that's the step people skip. You see it with patios and driveways, doing it half way just means doing it twice.
