Heard my uncle say he never waters his tomatoes in the evening

I was at a family cookout last weekend and my uncle Frank, who grows a ton of stuff, said he only waters his tomato plants in the morning. He told me, 'If you water at night, the leaves stay wet and that's how you get blight.' I've been watering mine after work for years, around 6 PM. So I tried switching to morning for the last week and the plants just look... happier? Has anyone else had a big change from just switching their watering time?

Ruby's over here watering her plants in the dark like some kind of gardening ninja. I tried that once and just ended up with a wet floor and a confused fern.
