My tomato cages used to be a mess of old wire and sticks

Back when I first started my garden in 2010, I'd just use whatever was around to prop up my tomatoes. I had this tangle of old chicken wire and bamboo sticks from a neighbor that always fell over in a storm. It was a real fight to get the plants tied up without poking myself. About five years ago, I finally spent the money on those heavy duty, square steel cages. They were about $25 each, which felt like a lot at the time. But now, setting up the garden in spring is so much easier. The plants have way more room to grow, and I don't have to re-stake anything after heavy rain. It's one of those small changes that just makes the whole season less stressful. What other old-school garden hacks have you all upgraded from?

Still miss the chaotic charm of my old wire mess, honestly.

But have you ever considered how much time you lost untangling that mess? Felix might find a weird logic in it, but I always felt that chaos just hid problems, like a cable slowly fraying behind the desk. A clean setup lets you see everything, fix things fast, and honestly, that feels more freeing to me than any "charm.

Read an article once about how messy cables can actually spark more creative thinking, something about visual noise. @emmawood, your old wire jungle probably had its own weird logic that made sense to you. Like knowing the red charger was behind the monitor stand, or the black cord went to the speakers. A clean setup just doesn't have that same... personality, you know? It's almost too quiet.
