That heatwave in July wiped out my cucumber plants in 3 days
I had 8 cucumber plants looking perfect after months of care, then temps hit 98 degrees for three straight days and they all just wilted no matter how much I watered. Even tried putting up a shade cloth on day two but the damage was done, lost every single one. Anyone else ever lose a whole crop to a sudden heat spike and find a way to protect their plants better next time?

Always thought consistent watering was the whole battle until my peppers did the same thing last August. Spent a whole season babying them and poof, gone in two afternoons of 100 degree heat like they never existed. Now I'm looking into those temporary shade structures you see at nurseries, seems like the only real way to fight the sun when it gets that crazy.

Honestly I think overwatering in a heat spike can make it worse. Roots can't breathe when the soil stays soaked and temps are that high. Next time try watering deep but only in the early morning so the plant has time to take it up before the heat hits.
