Finally realized I was the bad parker after 3 years

I used to always pull through parking spots backwards so I could drive out forward. Thought I was being smart about it until last week at a Home Depot lot in Phoenix. Some guy watched me do it and yelled out his window that I was taking up space for two cars since my truck was sticking way out. I laughed it off at first but then I actually looked and yeah, my bed was blocking the aisle. Now I just back in like a normal person. Has anyone else had that moment where you thought you were doing everyone a favor but you were actually the problem?

Yeah totally @stella_lane, I used to think pulling through was the smart move too until someone pointed out my jeep was blocking a whole aisle. Kinda embarrassing but good to finally get called out on it.

I heard this one podcast where a parking lot designer explained that pull through parking actually messes up the whole traffic flow for people trying to find spots. Apparently it's worse for everyone because you can't see clearly and it creates extra congestion. Made me rethink every time I did it too.

Oh man, this hit me hard because I was the same way for years with my old sedan! I thought I was being so clever pulling through at grocery stores, until one day I parked at Target and an employee had to squeeze between my bumper and a cart corral to get stuff. I felt like such a dummy when I realized I was blocking foot traffic and making it harder for people with carts. Now I just back in like a regular person and it takes me ten extra seconds but nobody hates me. It's wild how we can do stuff for years without ever really seeing it from someone else's side.
