Found an old parking ticket from 1987 in my dad's glove box...
I was cleaning out my dad's old truck last weekend and found a parking ticket from 1987. The fine was only 15 bucks back then for parking too far from the curb. Now in my city they charge 75 dollars for the same thing. It got me thinking about how people parked way different before all these SUVs and trucks got so huge. These days I see folks in giant pickup trucks taking up two spots easy because they can't fit between the lines. Has anyone else noticed how much wider cars have gotten over the past 30 years?

The F-150 has grown about 10 inches wider since 1987.

My grandpa had a mint condition 1985 Lincoln Town Car that could still fit in a compact spot. Saw a guy the other day parallel park a new Ram 2500 and it took him like 4 tries cause he couldn't even see the curb. Makes you wonder if parking lots are gonna have to get redesigned just for these monster trucks.
