Handicap placard owner took up two spots by the fire hydrant yesterday

I used to think handicap parking complaints were mostly just people being jerks about nothing. But yesterday at the Piggly Wiggly on Main Street, I watched a guy in a Charger park across two regular spots right next to a fire hydrant. He had a handicap placard hanging but clearly could walk fine. The fire chief actually came out and chewed him out while I was loading my groceries. Now I get why people post these photos - that kind of parking is dangerous for everyone, not just annoying.

Dude did the same thing happen at our Piggly Wiggly? I swear I saw that same Charger parked like an idiot across two spots right by the hydrant last week. The guy took his sweet time getting out, didn't even look at anyone, just walked in like he owned the place. I get needing the placard for bad days but that's straight up giving everyone with a real disability a bad name. Fire hydrant parking is basically asking for someone's house to burn down while they wait for the fire truck to squeeze through. Glad the fire chief actually did something, most people just let that slide.

Right, because nothing says "I have a real medical condition" like parking like you're the main character in a fire safety training video. That Charger probably thinks the handicap placard also gives him diplomatic immunity from common sense. Bet the fire chief's lecture was more effective than any parking ticket would have been.
