Took me 3 years to realize I was the bad parker at my own apartment complex

I used to get annoyed seeing cars parked slightly over the line in my lot, until I got a new car last month and realized my own spot had me squeezing into a space that was 6 inches narrower than all the others. Walked over and measured with a tape measure, turns out the paint stripes are just crooked on that side of the lot. Anyone else ever blame other people for something that was the lot's fault?

Did you try going to the leasing office with a photo and your tape measure readings? I did that once at my old place and they actually repainted the whole row. Management usually ignores complaints until you give them hard proof of a screw up, especially if it's a design flaw on their end. Just make sure you take the photo from straight on so the angle isn't misleading, and mention potential damage risks from people squeezing into tight spaces. They'll care more about protecting their property than your convenience. Either way, marking where your car actually sits in that skinny spot on a rainy day might save you from getting dinged doors.

Hard proof really does make ALL the difference with apartment management. They're way more likely to act when you show them clear documentation of a problem. It's a bummer that we have to be our own inspectors, but a tape measure and a photo can actually get things fixed.
