Found out my starter was actually ready three weeks ago, not dead

I stumbled on a baking science blog that said bubbles the size of your thumb mean it's active, and my jar's been full of them since February, so has anyone else been ignoring perfectly good starter because you thought it needed more time?

My buddy Dave baked with a 2-week old "dead" starter and it turned out perfect.
