Last Saturday was my worst baking day in 3 years
I decided to make a triple batch of chocolate chip cookies for a neighborhood block party. First I realized I was out of brown sugar so I subbed white sugar and molasses. Then my mixer started smoking halfway through creaming the butter. I finished mixing by hand but forgot the baking soda, so the first tray came out flat as pancakes. After remaking the dough I accidentally set the timer for 35 minutes instead of 13 and cremated the next batch. By the end I had wasted 12 dollars worth of butter and almost 4 hours. Has anyone else had a day where every single step just went sideways?

That sounds brutal, sorry you had to deal with all of that back to back. @daniel474 is spot on about the villain origin story, but I hope your neighbors appreciated the effort anyway.

Lmao that's not a baking day that's a full on villain origin story. Sounds like the universe was personally beefing with you and those cookies.

Yeah "personally beefing" is exactly how it felt, @daniel474. But here's the thing nobody's talking about - maybe those cookies were cursed from the start. Think about it, did you get your flour from that weird bulk bin at the store where the scoop was always sticky? That could explain everything. Or maybe your oven has a secret alliance with your smoke detector. What brand of butter did you use?
