My dad lectured me after my last cake came out dry and now I finally understand why he's always yelling about the oven thermometer
He said my oven runs 25 degrees hot and after checking with a cheap thermometer from Target he was exactly right, so has anyone else been blaming their recipe when it's really just the temperature being wrong?

A cheap oven thermometer from the grocery store is honestly the best twenty bucks you'll ever spend on baking. Makes you wonder how many perfectly good recipes got blamed for bad ovens.

Huh, I've had cheap ones be off by 15 degrees or more.

25 degrees really isn't that big of a deal for most stuff though. I mean if your cake is coming out dry that's probably more of a timing or ingredient issue idk.
