My sourdough starter grew mold after 3 days on the counter

I tried the no-feed method everyone swears by and ended up with green fuzz instead of bubbles - should I have kept it in the fridge instead of leaving it out? Has anyone else had this fail or did I just get bad luck with my flour?

Wait, are you saying I don't need to watch a 45 minute YouTube tutorial just to change a lightbulb? Because I definitely have a playlist saved for that... Honestly though, you're right. I overthink everything from fixing a squeaky door to boiling pasta. It's like my brain just refuses to accept the easy way and has to invent extra steps.
