Sourdough starter feeding schedule debate: twice a day vs once a day

I started my first sourdough starter 3 months ago and followed the standard twice daily feedings for the first 2 weeks. Then I got busy and switched to once a day for a month. My loaves actually had better oven spring with the once a day schedule. But a friend in my baking group says twice a day builds more lactic acid and gives a tangier flavor. Has anyone else experimented with different feeding frequencies and seen a real difference in their finished bread?

Oh man, @the_susan try feeding the starter cold water, slows fermentation way down.

Once a day worked better for my starter too, less hassle and better rise.

Agree with you actually, I got better results backing off to once a day.
