A regular in my chair in Austin said my fades feel like a massage

He told me he actually books appointments just to relax, not just for the cut. Made me think about how much the physical touch part of the job matters. Anyone else have clients who come as much for the vibe as the haircut?

Honestly, that's the whole job right there. Some guys just need a quiet place to reset for thirty minutes. I've had a few clients nod off in the chair. You start to learn who wants to chat and who just wants the quiet and the rhythm of the clippers. It means you're doing it right if they trust you enough to relax like that.

Read an article calling it "the third place" for men.

Man, that's so true. It's like we're part therapist and part barber sometimes. That quiet trust is what turns a good haircut into a real service, you know? Makes you wonder how many other jobs have that same hidden layer.
