Had an older guy sit in my chair and tell me to stop using thinning shears so much

He was a retired barber from the 60s and said he never touched them, just used a straight razor for texture. He watched me work on him for 20 minutes before dropping that advice, has anyone else had an old timer call out their technique?

A straight razor for texture?? That's wild, I'd be scared I'd scalp someone lmao.

Man that's wild! I had the same thing happen to me @hayden144, some old school barber told me I was overworking the shears during a haircut and pulled out a straight razor to show me how he did feathering back in the day. Dude was nuts but honestly he had a point about keeping texture without wrecking the hair.

Right! Nothing says trust like a sharp blade near your ear while getting a haircut.
