Had my doubts about that $90 clipper oil, but it's been 6 months and no regrets

I used to just grab whatever cheap clipper oil was on the shelf at the beauty supply. Figured oil is oil, right? A customer of mine who's been cutting for 30 years told me to try the Wahl Professional Wonder Wash oil. Said it would make my blades last longer. I was skeptical because it costs about triple what I normally spent. But I've been using it since last September and I've only had to sharpen my main clipper once. My old oil had me sending blades out every 6 weeks for sure. Has anyone else noticed a real difference with higher end oils or am I just getting lucky?

Hear you on the cheap oil trap, I fell for it too for years. But once I switched to something with actual lubricant properties instead of just perfumed mineral oil, my blades stopped heating up mid-cut. The cheap stuff burns off fast and leaves gunk behind. I think the higher end oils have a higher flash point so they don't vaporize as quick. Plus they're way more slippery so the blades run cooler. That cooler running probably saves your motor too. I'm betting you're not lucky, that's just what happens when you use something that actually does its job.

Cheap stuff everywhere works just good enough to make you think you're saving money.

Wait, you're saying the cheap stuff actually works better sometimes? That blows my mind because everything I've tried under $20 has let me down hard. @the_linda I think you might be the one exception to the rule if that's true.
