Just had the worst Saturday of my barbering career last week

Three no-shows in a row from 10am to noon, then a walk-in who wanted a skin fade with a razor but brought a photo of a 1940s pompadour that was clearly clipper work. Spent 45 minutes trying to explain the difference while he got more and more annoyed. Has anyone else had a day where nothing lines up and you just want to sweep up and go home?

Did you ever figure out if that walk-in actually wanted the pompadour or was he just looking at a picture he thought looked cool? Sometimes people bring in photos of haircuts they have no idea how to explain to a barber, and it ends up wasting both of your time. Was he at least willing to listen once you showed him on a clipper guard what the difference was?

Did he show up with that picture from the 50s where the guy's hair is basically a skyscraper? I had this one kid come in once with a photo of David Beckham from like 2003 and insisted he wanted that exact cut. Took me 20 minutes to explain that Beckham's hair in that photo was styled with like three different products and a blow dryer, not something you get from clippers alone. He finally just said "make it look cool" and i did a basic fade. He loved it, go figure. Some people just see a picture and think its a single haircut, not a whole routine.
