Last Tuesday was my worst day behind the chair in 12 years

Had three no-shows in a row, then a walk-in got a big chunk of hair caught in my clippers and demanded a free haircut. Has anyone ever had a day that made them question why they even picked up shears in the first place?

33 walk-ins canceled on me last month alone, and every single one of them blamed traffic like I've never heard of a highway before. But that chunk of hair thing happened to me once with a kid who wouldn't sit still, and his mom tried to get me to comp the whole cut too. What nobody talks about is how those no-shows and demanding people are usually the same ones who book a month out and ghost you, while your regulars tip cash and never complain. Makes you wonder if the clippers are worth the stress when the walk of shame out the door feels heavier than the scissors you're holding.

33 no-shows in a month sounds rough, but I gotta wonder if that's more a market thing than a universal barber problem. In my experience people cancel everywhere, but if you're booking walk-ins that heavy maybe it's worth looking at how you schedule them. Take it with a grain of salt, but maybe the clippers aren't the issue it's just a rough patch that'll pass.
