Old timer told me I was pressing too hard with the clippers back in 2019
He said let the blade do the work and I used to dig in like I was carving wood. Now I just glide it through and my fades actually blend right, anyone else get that feedback when they were starting out?

My barber told me the same thing in 2018 and it changed my whole cutting game.

I get you saying it's "not brain surgery," but I think you're underselling how much of barbering is feel and touch. Letting the clippers do the work is one of those small habits that makes a real difference over time, especially when you're trying to blend or fade. It's not a magic trick, but it's the kind of advice that keeps you from fighting the tool and lets you focus on the shape instead.

Woah, hold up. Is this really some kind of life-changing secret? I get the whole "let the blade do the work" thing, but it feels like people act like it's rocket science or something. It's trimming hair, not brain surgery. You push a little too hard, you fix it next time. No need to act like an old timer unlocked the mysteries of the universe for you. I've seen guys who barely touch the clippers and still mess up a fade, so there's clearly more to it than just pressure. Honestly, it sounds like a good tip for beginners but definitely not some sacred knowledge that'll make you a barber god.
