Old timer's take on scissor-over-comb made me question my methods
I sat next to a 30 year barber at a shop in Nashville last week, and he watched me do a scissor-over-comb blend on a client's crown. He said I was rushing the cross-checking and that modern barbers rely too much on clipper guards over shears for texture. It hit different because he wasn't criticizing my cut, he was questioning the whole foundation of how I learned. Has anyone else had an older pro push them to slow down, and do you think it actually makes a better end result or just takes longer?
