Pro tip: Check your clipper blades before every single client
Had a $300 blade set fail on me mid-haircut last Saturday at the Shop in Austin. It chewed up this guy's fade and I had to start over with fresh guards. Has anyone else had blades suddenly go dull on a paying client?

Gotta say I used to be one of those barbers who would only check blades when they started pulling or snagging. Then last month I was doing a skin fade on this regular and my 000 blade just grabbed a patch of hair and ripped it out. Total mess, client was super cool about it but I felt terrible. Now I run my thumb across the blade before every single cut and swap out for a fresh one at the first sign of any roughness.

Read a study once that said even a single shave can cause micro chips in a blade that you can't see with your eyes. That thumb test is actually a smart way to catch it before it becomes a problem. I guess that's why some barbers I follow online recommend checking before every single haircut, not just when it feels dull. A 000 blade grabbing like that sounds rough, good thing the client was chill about it.

Wait, you actually had a client who was cool after you ripped out a patch of hair with a 000?
