Question about cutting wet hair, a guy in Bakersfield told me to stop and I cant decide if hes wrong
So here is the thing that split my little two chair spot in half. I had a walk in about 6 weeks ago, guy with insanely thick wavy hair, and I did what I always do, cut it damp because thats how I learned at the school on Chester Ave. He left happy. Next day his brother comes in and says the fade looked soft around the edges. So I tried cutting him dry with clippers over comb first, just to see, and honestly the shape held way sharper and I used less product to finish it. But here is where I get stuck. Two of my regulars said the dry cut felt rougher on their scalp and one said it pulled near his cowlick. A guy who used to work at a spot off Rosedale told me he only cuts dry past the ears and never touches the top. So do I switch my whole flow or keep it damp and just fix the outline dry? I want to hear from folks who tried both for a few months, not just one haircut, because one cut is not proof of anything. What does your chair actually do?

Damp cutting is honestly fine for most heads and switching your whole flow over one brother's comment is nuts. Sharp fades come from your hands and the comb, not from the water, and dry cutting thick wavy hair is how you get a uneven mess once it springs back up. Keep it damp up top and clean the outline dry, thats what most chairs end up doing anyway.
