Serious question, did a guy at the shop on 5th just change how I think about fades?
I was venting to my buddy Marcus at his shop on 5th about losing a client over a skin fade that wasn't sharp enough for his liking. Marcus said, 'You're fighting the clipper instead of listening to the hair,' and it hit way harder than it should have. I've been cutting for 6 years and never thought about it that way, just always muscled through. Now I'm wondering if I've been doing this whole thing backwards. Any of you ever have a simple comment from another barber just flip your whole approach?
Had a guy tell me once to stop chasing the blend and let the guard do the work, and it honestly changed everything for me. Been cutting 9 years and I still catch myself muscling it when the hair isn't cooperating.
