TIL that clipper blades aren't supposed to feel hot after a cut

I've been cutting hair for about 4 years now and I always thought a hot blade meant it was sharp and working hard. Last week I watched a YouTube video from a barber supply shop in Chicago and they explained that heat actually means the blade is dull or needs oil. They showed a thermal reading where a hot blade was at 140 degrees and a cool one was at 95. I checked my own clippers after a busy Saturday and sure enough they were super hot. I cleaned and oiled them properly and the next cut was smooth with no heat at all. Has anyone else been running hot blades for years without realizing it?

I saw a similar thing from a barber supply shop out of Chicago too, that thermal reading video blew my mind. I had been running mine way too hot for like two years before I finally listened and oiled them right.

You saw that too, @carter.gavin? I always thought heat was just normal, but that video changed my mind.

Wait, you got a thermal reading on your clippers? That's next level nerdy but also kind of genius.
