Wasted $80 on a cheap clipper set last month - here's why I went back to my old Wahl
I bought a $80 cordless clipper set off Amazon thinking I was saving money over my old Wahl. First haircut, the blade started pulling and left a patchy mess on a customer. I had to redo the whole cut with my old wired Wahl and lost 20 minutes of time. The cheap set went straight in the trash after that. Has anyone else been burned by those budget clipper kits online?

My buddy bought one of those cheaper clipper sets and it actually caught on fire while charging. He was lucky he was home to unplug it. Never again for him.

I got a cheap Wahl set from Target like 5 years ago for $25 and it still works fine, no fires or anything. But I definitely get the fear @drew_bennett24 your buddy's experience sounds terrifying. After hearing stories like that I started unplugging my clippers the second I'm done cutting, even in the middle of a haircut if I set them down. They're sitting on a tile floor in my bathroom now, not on carpet or near anything flammable. I figure it's better to be paranoid than have a lithium battery decide to go off while I'm asleep.

Man, that's brutal! I had the exact same crap happen with a cheapo clipper set from some random brand. The blade got hot as hell halfway through a cut and just started ripping hair out instead of cutting it. Customer was not happy and I had to smooth it all over with my old corded Wahl. Those Amazon specials are garbage, plain and simple. You pay for what you get, and $80 is still too little for decent clippers. Stick with what works.
