Why I switched from clipper-over-comb to shear-over-comb on tight fades
For about 5 years I did all my fade work with clipper-over-comb, then one slow Tuesday in February a client in Portland asked for a shorter blend. I tried shear-over-comb on his crown and the texture came out way softer, no harsh lines even after he grew it out. Now I start with the clippers to set the base and finish with shears on top, it adds maybe 4 extra minutes per cut. Anyone else make that change and notice their clients stay loyal longer or is it just me?

Those 4 extra minutes are doing a lot of heavy lifting, I bet the softer texture is what keeps them coming back. My regulars started mentioning how their hair felt "healthier" between cuts, which was a huge switch from the usual complaints. That loyalty bump is real, once they feel that difference on day 14 it's hard for them to go anywhere else.
