I found a 1984 quarter at a garage sale that turned out to be worth $75
I was digging through a box of old coin jars at a garage sale in Phoenix last Saturday. Lady said everything in the box was a dollar each, so I grabbed a handful of random quarters. When I got home I looked up one from 1984 that looked a little different and found out it was a proof coin from a San Francisco mint set. My jaw dropped. Anyone else ever grab pocket change and later realize you snagged something way more valuable?

Hell yeah, that's a great find! I had something similar happen a few years back. I bought a old coffee can full of change at an estate sale for like five bucks. Turned out there was a 1932-D Washington quarter in there that was all worn but still worth a pretty penny, got about 60 bucks for it. The mint marks on those older coins are easy to miss if you don't look close, but it pays to check every one you run across.

Man, that's awesome @sam_thomas! You just never know what you'll find in those old cans and jars. I once grabbed a beat-up cigar box at a garage sale for a dollar and found a 1916 Mercury dime hiding under some old buttons. Sold it for way more than I expected once I cleaned it up a bit.
