Talked to a retired antique dealer at a garage sale last Saturday...

I was digging through a box of old tools for $15 and this lady next to me said 'you know most of that stuff is just newer reproductions right?' She pointed out three things I thought were legit vintage that were actually made in China in the 90s. How do you guys spot the fakes without getting burned?

You know what, I used to think people were being too harsh on counterfeit detectors, but seeing her call out three so fast really made me reconsider. In my experience, it's easy to assume you'd spot a fake, but those busted details she pointed out were obvious once she said them. I'd still take her word with a grain of salt, but that was a pretty convincing eye for fakes, honestly.
