Warning: don't buy those reusable 'as seen on tv' grocery bags
I grabbed a 5-pack at a garage sale for $3 and they all split open on the first trip, spilling my eggs and milk all over the parking lot... has anyone found a durable brand that actually holds up?

Did you happen to notice what brand they were, or did they just have a generic look? I've seen those cheap ones snap at the seams on the first real load too, it's frustrating. The problem is a lot of them look sturdy but use this thin plastic that can't handle any weight (especially if it's hot outside or something). I'm wondering if the ones that are more like thick canvas or woven fabric might be the way to go.

Stick to the thick canvas ones from a hardware store or a farm supply place. They cost a bit more but they won't blow out on you like those cheap plastic things. I've had the same four canvas bags for over five years now and they still hold up fine with heavy stuff. Skip anything that feels thin or crinkly, it's just gonna fail.
