Wasted $40 on a 'vintage' bread machine that didn't even work
Picked up this retro bread machine at a garage sale in Akron last Saturday because the guy said it 'just needs a good cleaning.' Got it home, plugged it in, and the heating element is completely dead. Anyone else get burned by something that looked like a steal but was just junk?

Did you never think that a $40 garage sale bread machine might be a gamble from the start? I mean, the guy said it needed a good cleaning, not that it actually worked. You saw 'vintage' and got excited, but that just means old and outdated with a high chance of failure. I've bought plenty of used stuff that needed work, but I always test it right there or expect to lose the money. Sounds like you got a lesson in garage sale logic, not a 'burn' from the seller.

Yeah but forty bucks is like two decent lunches, not really something to lose sleep over. Worst case you salvage the pan and bowl for a cool kitchen display or something.
