Hot take: My relationship with my phone changed after 4 hours at the DMV
I spent last Thursday at the DMV on Broadway, the one near the old theater, and it took 4 hours just to renew my license. No phone signal in there, just a flickering light and a guy whisper-arguing with his insurance agent. I sat there watching people fidget and realized I'd been grabbing my phone every 45 seconds at home. That wait forced me to just sit and think about nothing for once. Has anyone else had a random wait time break their screen addiction for a bit?

The DMV is my phone's version of rehab, except way less fun and with more fluorescent lights.

Honestly I had a friend who thought he could just renew his license online while sitting in his car outside the DMV. He was like "be done in five minutes, easy." Ngl he ended up trapped in there for three hours because the system flagged his photo from 2008 and they made him retake it. Now his license looks like a mugshot and he has to explain it to every bartender who checks his ID. Tbh I still laugh about it whenever I pass that building.
