Pro tip: a $2 squeeze bottle beats the fancy toilet brush every single time
I finally gave up on the $14 brush with the holder that just sits there collecting gunk, and grabbed a $2 plastic squeeze bottle from the dollar store on 5th. Two squirts of vinegar and water down the bowl and everything just slides off, no scrubbing, no gross bristle smell after a week. Six months in and my toilet looks better than it did with the brush I used for 3 years. Am I the only one who thinks brushes are a total scam or does anyone still swear by theirs?

That "no gross bristle smell after a week" line got me, because that smell is the exact reason I quit brushes. Mine used to sit there getting ripe and I never noticed until I'd scrub and then catch that whiff. Now I just keep a vinegar and water mix in an old dish soap bottle, squirt it around the rim at night, and by morning everything wipes right off. My last brush had bristles that bent and trapped stuff at the base, and cleaning the brush itself was more work than the toilet. Six months in with the bottle and it still looks brand new, no gunk, no smell, nothing to scrub.
