Ran into my old neighbor Frank at the hardware store yesterday
He told me he stopped using chemical weed killers on his lawn after 30 years. Said he just pulls them by hand now and his backyard looks better than ever. I always thought that approach was a waste of time, but seeing his yard made me reconsider. Has anyone else given up the spray bottles and gone back to the old ways?

Used to be a total Roundup guy myself... figured any other way was just asking for back pain and wasted weekends. Then my wife's dad came to visit and spent a morning on his knees pulling crabgrass from our front beds. Told me I was poisoning the soil for no good reason. I laughed it off at first but a few weeks later I noticed how much greener his own lawn was compared to mine. Now I'm two seasons into doing it all by hand with a good weeder tool and a bucket... my back aches sometimes but the robins and earthworms are definitely thanking me. The yard isn't perfect but it feels more alive, you know?
