Serious question, do bathroom fans actually help or just make noise?
My whole evening routine got weird when I saw that stat. I sat on the toilet lid reading about fan ratings after my mirror fogged up during a hot shower, and it hit me that I've never once checked the specs on mine. The blog said most builders put in the cheapest fan that passes code, which explains why my ceiling feels like a gentle breeze on a still day. Now I'm torn between buying a $140 sensor model with a timer or just cracking the window and saving the cash. What did you all do when you found out your fan was weak, replace it or adapt?
Man, that gentle breeze on a still day line got me because mine is the exact same way. Here's what I want to know though: when you tested it, did you hold a piece of toilet paper up to the grille to see if it even pulls, or are you just going off the fog? Because if the mirror fogs up in under a minute, that tells you way more than any spec sheet ever will.
