Stood in my own bathroom for 10 minutes hiding from my family after the washing machine flooded the kitchen

Got home from work at 6pm yesterday and found a puddle spreading across the linoleum. The drain hose popped off the wall pipe. Sopping up water with every towel I own. Took me 45 minutes to clean it all up. My wife kept asking what happened and I just wanted to scream in a closet. Ended up locking myself in here just to breathe for a minute. Anybody else's appliances just decide to quit without warning?

Man, I felt that "just wanted to scream in a closet" line in my bones. Our dishwasher went out last fall, just stopped mid cycle and dumped gray water all over the kitchen floor right when we had company coming over. I was under the sink with a wet vac and a headlamp while my wife was trying to keep people in the living room. Feels like appliances know exactly when to break.

@felix_williams71 that "scream in a closet" part got me too. I used to think people were just being dramatic about hiding from their families (like, just deal with it right?) but after my fridge died on a Saturday with all the kids home, I totally get it now. Sometimes you just need a minute before you can face the mess.
