That coffee shop on 3rd street keeps ruining their espresso shots

I swear every time I go to Brew & Co. on 3rd street they pull their shots way too fast. It comes out all watery and sour tasting like lemon juice. I mentioned it to the barista last Tuesday and she just shrugged at me. Anyone else notice shops in this area can't seem to dial in their grind right?

Last Tuesday I actually timed their pour because I was so frustrated. It was 18 seconds for a double shot, which is way too fast for that machine. I think it's part of a bigger thing I've noticed around here where businesses just give up on quality once they get popular. Like the sandwich place on main street started using pre shredded lettuce last month and nobody cared. Or how the dry cleaner on 5th stopped pressing collars properly. It feels like everywhere you go these days people just settle for "good enough" and shrug when you point it out. I miss when places took pride in getting the small things right.

Man I feel that 18 second pour in my soul. My coffee tolerance is so high now that I basically mainline espresso straight just to feel something, but even I know that's way too fast. You're right about the quality slide too, its not just coffee. I noticed the burger joint near my work started using those preformed frozen patties instead of hand pressed and I wanted to say something but figured Id sound like a whiner. At this point Im just waiting for someone to start selling pre shredded lettuce for my homemade sandwiches so I can keep the spiral going. Maybe Im the problem for still paying for this stuff, but what are you gonna do, make your own damn espresso at 6am?
