That fancy trash can with the motion sensor was a waste of $80
Bought one last month from Target because I got tired of stepping on the pedal. Thing kept opening when I walked past it in the middle of the night. Dog barked and it went off. Finally just pulled the batteries out and went back to the old one. Anyone else have a smart home gadget that just caused more headaches?

The motion sensor on those things is actually adjustable on most models. There's usually a little dial or switch inside the lid that changes the sensitivity range. I had the same problem with mine opening randomly until a friend told me to turn it down from high to low. Now it only opens when my hand is right over it instead of when I walk by from five feet away. Might be worth digging the manual out of the trash or looking up the model number on YouTube.
