The 15 minute rule for solo bathroom breaks at work
Back in my 20s I used to take forever in here, scrolling and zoning out, and my back would hate me after. Now I set a mental cap at 15 minutes, max, and treat it like a reset button instead of a hideout. The shift happened when I started using my phone's stopwatch, not a timer app, just the basic one, and it made me honest about how long I was actually wasting. Problem was I'd get lost in my own head about deadlines, but the stopwatch forced me to wrap up my rant and get out. Anyone else find that a time limit makes these rants more useful, or do you need the full unplugged stretch?
The stopwatch thing sounds like it turns a break into another task to manage, which kind of defeats the whole point.
If you're watching a clock the whole time you never actually let your brain off the leash, so you come back just as wound up as when you left.
Letting it run long once in a while is fine, the walls don't care and your boss won't notice a few extra minutes.
