The soap dispenser at work had me feeling like a fool for 2 years

I always thought you had to push down hard on the pump to get soap out. So every time I'd mash it, soap would splatter everywhere and I'd cuss under my breath in the stall. Then the janitor Gary saw me one day and said 'you know you just gotta tap it gentle, right?' He showed me one light press and the soap came out perfect. Now I feel dumb but at least my shirt stays clean. Anyone else have a hidden trick like that they missed for way too long?

Saw a Reddit thread where a guy said he drove his car for 3 years before realizing the turn signal stalk also does high beams. Felt his pain.

Sat in a dark parking lot for weeks before I figured that one out.
