Vent: My tap water taste changed after they redid the pipes on my block

Noticed it about three weeks after the city finished that big pipe replacement project on Elm Street. The water started having this faint metallic hint, almost like licking a rusty nail. My brita filter used to fix it in an hour, now it takes almost eight hours to get the taste out. Checked with two neighbors and they said the same thing, one guy even got a test kit. Anyone else deal with weird water changes after street work? Did it go away on its own or do I need to call the city?
