Went back to the old grease gun after the fancy new one clogged up on me

Picked up one of those new lever-style grease guns from the auto parts store last month, figured it'd save me time. First job it got to day three and the handle seized up solid, wouldn't pump a drop. Dug out my old manual pistol grip from the 90s in the bottom of my tool box, thing's got rust spots and a bent nozzle, but it worked perfect on four ball joints without skipping a beat. Anyone else find the new stuff just can't handle the same abuse the old tools could?

Used to buy new tools all the time. This post changed my mind.

Read a thing online that said these new tools are made with cheaper metal parts because of some manufacturing shift in the last ten years. The old ones used better steel that didn't warp or bind up under pressure. Makes sense why that 90s gun still pumps like a champ while the shiny new one just sits there dead.
