DAE think a $40 spoke tension meter beats eyeballing it every time?
I rebuilt a rear wheel on a customer's commuter last week and decided to actually use my tension meter instead of the old pluck and guess method I learned in 2011. The difference was night and day, the wheel stayed true after 200 miles of potholes while my old hand built ones usually needed truing by then. Anyone else made the switch or do you still trust your ears over the gauge?
