Rant: I thought the Park Tool BBT-69 bottom bracket tool was just overpriced hype
For years I used a cheap no-name tool that always slipped on Shimano Hollowtech II cups, rounding them out maybe one in ten times. Last month I finally bought the BBT-69 after wrecking a customer's bike, and it fit perfectly with zero play. That solid engagement saved me from having to explain a $45 part replacement. Anyone else have a tool they avoided that turned out to be a game changer?

That "solid engagement" you mentioned is everything. I fought with a cheap chain whip for ages, it always slipped and scratched my nice cassettes. Finally grabbed the Park Tool SR-12.2 and the difference was insane. It just locks on, no drama. I felt so dumb for waiting.

Disagree hard. That perfect fit is a crutch for bad technique. I rounded a Hollowtech cup once with a cheap tool, learned to tap it in square with a mallet first, never had an issue since. The Park tool is just forgiving sloppy work. My old socket and a careful hand does the same job for a fraction of the price. Sometimes the expensive fix just masks the real problem.

Man, I feel that. I've been in that exact spot, sweating over a rounded part. The right tool just takes all the stress out of the job. It's worth every penny.
