Spotted something cool at the old bike swap in Portland
Was at the big swap meet in Portland last weekend and saw a guy selling a full set of vintage Campagnolo tools from the 80s. They were in this old metal box, still had the original foam cutouts and everything. He said he found them in a shop that closed down 20 years ago. Anyone else ever come across a full vintage tool set like that?

But what good is a tool that's never been used?

Makes you wonder how many perfect old bikes got built with those tools. That foam holding the shape for decades is the real time capsule part.

Used to believe the old tools were just worn out junk. Seeing that foam still holding the exact shape after all this time really hits different. It proves the care they took back then wasn't just talk. Makes you respect the whole process way more. That foam is a silent witness to a kind of quality we don't see much anymore. Changes how you look at every old bike now.
