Switched from square taper to hollowtech after 15 years, kind of regret waiting so long
I was always one of those guys who said square taper was fine, why fix what isn't broken. Then my old Shimano 105 crank started creaking on a long ride last month, and I had a Hollowtech Ultegra sitting in a parts bin from a friend's upgrade. Took me an hour to swap it out, and the stiffness difference is wild. The crankset cost me nothing but I still feel like I should have done this years ago. Anyone else drag their feet on a simple upgrade?

Blew my mind when I finally went Hollowtech too. The real kicker for me was how much easier it makes chainline adjustments since the spindle is all one piece.

Wait, the whole spindle is one piece? I honestly never realized that. No wonder my chain always felt a little off with the square taper setup. Tbh that makes so much sense now why everyone raves about the stiffness.
